156. London Podcast Festival (with Zoë Jeyes)

Last month, Ed made a flying visit back to England in order to attend the first annual London Podcast Festival at King's Place in London. He's joined by Zoë Jeyes, the Comedy Programmer for King's Place and producer of the festival, to discuss how the festival came together, the great shows they saw (including, but not limited to, BullseyeJudge John HodgmanThe Moth and Little Atoms), and to extol the virtues of Hollywood Handbook, in a segment that will make almost no sense to anyone who hasn't listened to that show.

00:01:34 - 00:49:16 - Ed & Zoë discuss the shows they saw at the festival

71. High School

November 6th, 2014 · Comments

This week, the boys are - much like Rodney Dangerfield - going back to school, with an episode that explores the teen experience and the perils of secondary education.

This whole thing was inspired by Beyond Clueless, Charlie Lyne's most excellent essay film about teen movies, which was a Shot/Reverse Shot highlight of this year's Sheffield DocFest. Mr. Lyne foolishly agreed to be interviewed at the festival and can be (just about) heard talking through his experiences making the film. The outro music this week comes courtesy of Summercamp, whose score for Beyond Clueless is beyond fantastic. It was recorded live at the Beyond Clueless after party and is therefore somewhat of an exclusive.

34. Sheffield DocFest 20

June 18th, 2013 · Comments

As promised last time around, Joe and Ed descended on Sheffield DocFest, armed with nought but a pair of mics and a quest for the truth. They talk about the films, the events, the masterclasses and the parties that made DocFest's 20th anniversary so very special. Amongst all that important stuff, this episode includes the search for a mythical free breakfast and a disastrous, drunken attempt to interview someone on a dancefloor.

Thanks to Tom Grater, Martin Parsons and Ralph Mackinder for additional waffle.

8. Sheffield DocFest 2012 Report

June 21st, 2012 · Comments

As promised, here s a front line dispatch from Sheffield DocFest 2012, featuring Colin Oakley of Slacker Cinema, Martin Parsons of Fohnhouse and PR imp Alex Rowland. Alas, a really great chinwag between Adam Batty of and myself ended up on the cutting room floor, as some mystical technical problem made us sound like robots talking underwater.
