You're in luck, though, because Ed and Emily are here to tell you which films coming out between now and the end of the year you should get excited about. It's a brand new year, which means it's time to look ahead at what 2018 has to offer. After laying out their New Year's Resolutions, Matt and Ed sift through the release schedule to highlight some of their most anticipated movies coming out between now and August (with one October release that they forgot to remove from the episode plan), as well as some which they don't have high hopes for but which could still be interesting. They also talk about German New Year's traditions, become possibly the first podcast in history to joke about the long-forgotten ABC sitcom Teen Angel, and accidentally come up with a title for the next great Sundance sensation.
You can see the sketch Dinner for One, which Matt talks about in the intro, on YouTube.

Minisode: A Twin Peaks Primer
Sunday May 21, 2017
Sunday May 21, 2017
In this minisode, Ed breaks down Twin Peaks for newcomers (or old fans who may have forgotten the salient details) ahead of the long-awaited revival of the show. He lays out the plot (not to mention the subplots), the reasons why the show's original run fell apart, and why people are so excited about the return of a show which ended ignominously more than 25 years ago. Ed also pays tribute to Car Boys, the recently completed YouTube series from Polygon.

Happy New Year, listeners! As is customary, we start a new year and a new season with a look ahead at what the world of film has to offer. To help in that endeavour, Ed is joined by this episode's guest, writer John Hunter. As they go through each month up to and including August, they wonder if xXx: The Return of Xander Cage will be Vin Diesel's Unforgiven, try to divine which films will enjoy a healthy afterlife of being endlessly repeated on BBC2, and attempt to maintain their cool when talking about the Twin Peaks revival.

After a short break caused by a) Ed being on holiday and b) Matt accidentally sleeping through a scheduled recording session, the boys are back with a vengeance in this extra long, extra punchy episode, during which they discuss the films they are most looking forward to between now and the end of the year. They also catch up on some recent news, ponder the falls from grace of Johnny Depp and Mel Gibson, and come up with possibly the best band name of all time.

63. Autumn/Winter 2014 Preview
Sunday Aug 31, 2014
Sunday Aug 31, 2014
Now that the summer is over, it's time to look ahead and consider what the last few months of 2014 have to offer. Joe and Ed continue their annual tradition of looking at the Autumn/Winter schedule - with its weird mix of awards contenders, would-be blockbusters and unwanted films left to wither and die - and cherry pick the best and most interesting films that the seasons have to offer. Despite this clear, easy to follow structure, they still manage to get distracted by talk of Irish kickboxing, pitch a spiritual sequel to The Producers, and explain why Cameron Diaz's contributions to music should be scrubbed from existence.

52. The Alternate 100: Preview
Wednesday Apr 09, 2014
Wednesday Apr 09, 2014
It's been a while, but the boys return to whet your appetites for their forthcoming (and slightly delayed) year-long project, The Alternate 100, in which Joe and Ed attempt to list 100 great films but with some strict selection criteria. This episode lays out the rules they've set themselves, explains why the first draft of the list was 5% Walter Hill films and features a play-along-at-home drinking game. Despite this episode being less than 12 minutes long, they still find a way to wander off topic, specifically talking about the new season of Game of Thrones and Hodor Hodor Hodor.

In the first episode of 2014, Joe and Ed pause to mark the fact that they've made it to 50 episodes, an achievement of sorts, that neither seem able to comprehend. Giddy with a sudden sense of invincibility, they announce a multi-part podcast for 2014, a mysterious series of episodes that will make up something called The Shot/Reverse Shot Alternate 100.

Also, the film 'Alfonso Cuaron's Space Rhino' pitched in this episode is now under copyright.

Thursday Feb 07, 2013
Thursday Feb 07, 2013
As promised at the end of the last episode, Joe and Ed fulfill their contractual obligation and cast their eyes over the veritable feast of TV coming up this year. Show favourites Arrested Development, Mad Men, Breaking Bad and Community all return, 30 Rock draws to a close and fresh faced young bucks S.H.I.E.L.D and Under the Dome vie for position on the autumn schedule. As always, the focus of this episode wanders, most specifically becuase Joe is surreptitiously watching Couples Retreat in the background.... Listen, enjoy, rate and review!

Season Two of Shot/Reverse Shot kicks off with an epic look at the cinematic year ahead of us. Joe and Ed take a shifty at everything from the wonkiest blockbuster to the most gongworthy Oscar bait. We preview the awards season, speculate as to what will be the movers and shakers of the year and then run down out top ten most anticipated films of the coming 12 months. As per usual, there are tangents aplenty, including a new Crimewatch-style feature and a seemingly unending list of mispronounced surnames. Listen, enjoy, rate and review!

As a fairly low key (Dark Knights and Avengers aside) summer draws to a close, Joe and Ed look forward to the back end of 2012, where a thrilling mix of Oscar baiting nonsense, blockbusters and indie flicks all fight for their attention. Away from the silver screen, the boys also have a look at the best of what US TV has to offer, most notably the mouth watering proposition of NBC's Fall comedy schedule. As usual, listen, enjoy, rate and review!
