It's a brand new year, which means it's time to look ahead at what 2018 has to offer. After laying out their New Year's Resolutions, Matt and Ed sift through the release schedule to highlight some of their most anticipated movies coming out between now and August (with one October release that they forgot to remove from the episode plan), as well as some which they don't have high hopes for but which could still be interesting. They also talk about German New Year's traditions, become possibly the first podcast in history to joke about the long-forgotten ABC sitcom Teen Angel, and accidentally come up with a title for the next great Sundance sensation.

After a short break caused by a) Ed being on holiday and b) Matt accidentally sleeping through a scheduled recording session, the boys are back with a vengeance in this extra long, extra punchy episode, during which they discuss the films they are most looking forward to between now and the end of the year. They also catch up on some recent news, ponder the falls from grace of Johnny Depp and Mel Gibson, and come up with possibly the best band name of all time.

Happy New Year! As is customary, a new season of Shot/Reverse Shot starts by looking at the release schedule and considering what cinematic delights the year ahead has in store. Matt and Ed run down the blockbusters, independent curios and outright oddities that will be hitting screens in 2016, and make the first reference to So Solid Crew that anyone anywhere has made in at least 10 years.

Happy New Year! We're back and we're looking forward to what lies on the horizon in 2015 in our traditional preview. We talk about the films we're excited about, the ones that we're curious about, and the ones that are sure to dominate the cultural conversation for weeks and months at a time. We also highlight some TV shows that we're excited about, and offer (hopefully) tantalising glimpses of what we have planned for the podcast itself in the year ahead.

Now that the summer is over, it's time to look ahead and consider what the last few months of 2014 have to offer. Joe and Ed continue their annual tradition of looking at the Autumn/Winter schedule - with its weird mix of awards contenders, would-be blockbusters and unwanted films left to wither and die - and cherry pick the best and most interesting films that the seasons have to offer. Despite this clear, easy to follow structure, they still manage to get distracted by talk of Irish kickboxing, pitch a spiritual sequel to The Producers, and explain why Cameron Diaz's contributions to music should be scrubbed from existence.

It's been a while, but the boys return to whet your appetites for their forthcoming (and slightly delayed) year-long project, The Alternate 100, in which Joe and Ed attempt to list 100 great films but with some strict selection criteria. This episode lays out the rules they've set themselves, explains why the first draft of the list was 5% Walter Hill films and features a play-along-at-home drinking game. Despite this episode being less than 12 minutes long, they still find a way to wander off topic, specifically talking about the new season of Game of Thrones and Hodor Hodor Hodor.

In the first episode of 2014, Joe and Ed pause to mark the fact that they've made it to 50 episodes, an achievement of sorts, that neither seem able to comprehend. Giddy with a sudden sense of invincibility, they announce a multi-part podcast for 2014, a mysterious series of episodes that will make up something called The Shot/Reverse Shot Alternate 100.

With a disappointing summer now thankfully just a speck on the horizon, Joe & Ed take a look ahead at what cinematic treats await us at the back end of the year. From the biggest winter blockbuster to the worthiest of all Oscar bait, the boys have it nowhere near enough covered.

As promised at the end of the last episode, Joe and Ed fulfill their contractual obligation and cast their eyes over the veritable feast of TV coming up this year. Show favourites Arrested Development, Mad Men, Breaking Bad and Community all return, 30 Rock draws to a close and fresh faced young bucks S.H.I.E.L.D and Under the Dome vie for position on the autumn schedule. As always, the focus of this episode wanders, most specifically becuase Joe is surreptitiously watching Couples Retreat in the background.... Listen, enjoy, rate and review!
